Mr. Charles Darnell Lilly departed this life on May 17, 2023 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Mr. Lilly was born on July 29, 1961 to the late Ms. Mae France Lilly and Charles Ferry McRae, who preceded him in death.
He graduated from Albemarle Senior High School in 1979. Charles had alot of talent and gifts. He was employed with Quarles & Gromon Concrete in Albemarle North Carolina. He loved what he did. Known as “Lil Bitty” he enjoyed cooking and helping the community. He was also known to talk “junk” to anyone he saw fit. Baseball was his favorite game to play, however, enjoyed football the most. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, niece, nephew and family. You could catch him dancing to (Mr. Officer) a Lil Wayne song, “hey give me a smoke” (his favorite catch phrase). He always made everyone happy when he was around.
Charles leaves to cherish his memories to: Anita (Davara) Ponds, Donna Lilly, Shawyn Lilly, Tammy Goines, Todd Lilly, Vickie Lilly, Kenneth (Dianvuan) Lilly, Vincent (Carol) Jackson, Tracey Huntley, Christopher McRae, Crystal Ford, Monica (Leon) Harrison, Carla McRae, LaChundra Pemberton, and Ashley Davis. Stepchildren: Valina (Anderson) Reeves, Terry Lindsey, Michelle Foreman, Tony (Theresa) Lindsey, Suzette (Samer) Ayyash, Tracy Lindsey, Latoya Martin, (Constance (Kenneth) Lindsey-Freeman and Yolanda Lindsey. A host of nephews, nieces, cousins, twenty-one grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
The service to Celebrate the life of Mr. Lilly will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 1:00pm at St. Delight Church, 520 Wall St., Albemarle NC.
Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, 1920 Woodhurst Lane, Albemarle, NC 28001
